WHO WE ARE
Tasa Coffee Roasters is owned and managed by Jackie Marquez, who is the proud daughter of Mexican immigrants. She is a lifelong Chicagoan and was raised in the Humboldt Park/Bucktown neighborhood. She previously attended the Illinois Institute of Art where in 2017 she received an associate’s degree in Culinary Arts. After finishing college she gained her hands-on culinary experience by working in various restaurants throughout Chicago. When not busy in the kitchen (her personal or a commercial kitchen) she is happily at home with her husband Pierre, her son (also Pierre), and her dog Zoey.

How we started
Tasa Coffee Roasters began as an idea during the height of COVID in early 2020. Jackie was out of work and focusing on honing her craft with catering. One day, while she and her husband were daydreaming ideas for a future restaurant, they found themselves discussing opening a café and roastery instead. This concept made perfect sense to them as it would allow them to share both their love of food and their love of coffee with the world. They spent most of 2020 immersing themselves in the history, culture, and production of coffee.
We believe in equity, great coffee and amazing fooD
In our coffee journey we learned about coffee farmers and how they're often underpaid for their work. Unfortunately, this is an all-too-common reality. We strive to create a business that provides a living wage for our employees and rightful compensation to the farmers who create our coffee. We are a Latina-owned & woman-forward business that seeks to share our love of specialty coffee and delicious food with our customers.
